Pine Needles Quilt Guild began with a small group of quilters in
1985. Today there are more than 70 members who gather together to
share and promote the love of quilts and quilting.
Guild meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8:30
PM in the Wrightwood Community Building. Annual membership is $20.00
(prorated). The fee includes the monthly newsletter (with information
about the meetings, members, workshops and area quilt shows) and
reduced prices for workshops. Membership is open to anyone interested
in quilts or quilting. Beginners, experts, and guests are welcome.
Each guild meeting begins with a business meeting followed by “Show
and Tell” (old quilts, new quilts, on-going projects) then
the monthly program. Programs include guest speakers, trunk shows,
mini workshops and learning new techniques. There is a door prize
each month and an opportunity to make “Block of the Quarter”
patterns. A lucky participant can win all blocks made that month
in a drawing. An on-going, optional Secret Pal program is fun and
rewarding. There is time to share fellowship and snacks at “Break”.
July’s meeting typically includes a pot-luck picnic dinner
at a local campground while the December meeting is reserved for
a holiday pot-luck dinner and gift exchange.
Pine Needles Quilt Guild has an ever growing library for members
which contains books on making quilts, decorating with quilts and
quilting stories. There is also an assortment of quilting stencils
that can be checked out.
In order to support guild activities as well as reach out to the
Tri-Communities, Pine Needles Quilt Guild has several fund raisers
each year. These have included bake sales, quilt shows, mini-quilt
auctions, holiday home tours, boutiques and opportunity quilt raffles.
Profits from these fund raisers have benefited the Wrightwood Library,
Tri-Community Toy Box, Project Pride, Serrano High School Home Economics
Department and Better Way Domestic Violence Center.
Pine Needles Quilt Guild welcomes new members, ideas and suggestions.
